Who should come: Anyone who, having lived there, understands that being a New Yorker is as much of an identity as being Irish or Italian or Greek. No matter how far you travel or how long ago you moved away, it's an intrinsic part of who you are.

Why: Because only fellow New Yorkers can understand why you walk, talk and think as fast as you do.

Meeting Description: For my inaugural meeting as organizer, we'll go back to a popular meeting place from the past, the funky, historic Tommy's Joynt, an old steam-table restaurant/bar evocative of (but of course not as good as) similar institutions in New York, where you can choose from over 100 brands of beer to wash down your corned beef, buffalo stew or (for you vegetarians) pasta and vegetables.

This will be a chance for us to get to know (or become re-acquainted with) one another over beer and smoked meats. Bring your estimation of the biggest difference between New Yorkers and Californians, what you miss most, a list of your favorite films set-in-New York and ideas for future meetups.
