Hey guys,

In my experience, New Yorkers, though busy, can be super generous.

The next meet up - our Holiday Meet Up - I propose we meet, talk, drink and eat (if you want!) do a bit of a food drive. I know I have like 6 cans of tuna fish I can't bring myself to eat. Pull that stuff out and bring it along! I will get it to the food bank, you don't have to worry about it. (I will have my car parked nearby.)

We will be collecting for the San Francisco Food Bank, if you want to check their website, here it is http://www.sffoodbank.... You can also bring your checkbook if you would rather donate money, apparently $1 feeds 4. I will have forms on hand, or you can mail it in.

We will meet at the Pig and Whistle on Geary, near Masonic. According to Stan, our assistant organizer, "Free parking lot, cheap
food, plenty of beers." Good pub food ( I have been there myself and it is pretty great!)

If you need some ideas, or want to figure out which cans to dig out of your pantry, these are the most needed:

canned vegetables
canned fruit
tuna
canned meats
soups, stews and chili
peanut butter
cereal
no glass containers, please
(I have also heard baby formula)

Then, if people are really into helping at the Food Bank itself, just sorting the food and everything is quite a task, we can plan a date to help out over the next month at a Food Bank location. I have worked at food banks a bit before, and you know what, it is pretty great.

Hope to see you all there, and if you want to bring some cans along, that would be great!

Karen

Really enjoyed meeting everyone and had a good time talking about NYC.
    •  Perhaps choose a place that has better food. San Fran has many places to eat inexpensively and quality food. If you want suggestions, let me know. Thanks!
    •  I got there very late at 8:45 or later so my comments are not too relevant. However, I'm being forced to submit an estimated attendance and I'll go with what Stan told me
